The Renault Type AG was a popular choice with private operators who would have their buses custom built on the basic chassis. This type of vehicle was the natural development of the horse drawn station bus used to convey visitors from the railway stations to their hotels. This service was extended to carry passengers and their luggage between towns and villages.

The Renault AG bus is built on the popular Renault chassis from the beginning of the 20th century with the characteristic sloping hood. The design was not far from the horse-drawn omnibuses of the time.

The (Y44-1) 1910 Renault Bus joined the range in 1991.
